Definition
A proverbial Romanian phrase inspired by local folklore and the comedy of writer Vasile Alecsandri, used to describe an absurd solution, an inefficient patch, or an illusory repair where one part of an object is ruined to fix another. The metaphor refers to the comical situation in which the character Arvinte cuts the sleeves of his robe to lengthen its skirts, ultimately leaving himself with a completely ruined garment.
