Ascogenous
Definition
Producing or giving rise to asci; a structural term used in mycology to describe the special hyphae (ascogenous hyphae) that arise from the female cell (ascogonium) after the plasmogamy process. These dikaryotic cellular structures develop inside the fruiting body and are directly responsible for forming the final sporiferous apparatus of ascomycete fungi.
