Asianism
Definition
A rhetorical and literary style that emerged in the schools of eloquence of Asia Minor during the 3rd century BC, characterized by highly ornamental, artificial expression, rich in figures of speech, rhythmic, and often bombastic. In the history of ancient oratory, this structural current opposed the severe and sober classicism represented by Atticism, emphasizing pathos, sound effects, and an ample phraseological construction designed to auditively impress the audience.
