Romanian Academic Dictionary
- Adoptionists — Members, adherents, or promoters of the doctrine of adoptionism, who denied the inherent and eternal divinity of Jesus Christ, arguing that his status as Son of God was achieved through divine adoption at his baptism. The term is used strictly in ecclesiastical historiography to denote religious factions of antiquity and the early Middle Ages in conflict with trinitarian orthodoxy.
- To adorn — To adorn, embellish, or decorate a room, object, or attire by adding ornamental elements, accessories, or distinct aesthetic details. Although a less frequent neologistic loan in current everyday Romanian compared to its native synonyms, the term is used in critical, artistic, architectural, or literary language to highlight structural refinement.
- Adornment — The act of adorning and its result; the process of embellishing, decorating, or beautifying a space, object, or garment through the application of ornaments or artistic details. Although less frequent in common speech than its native synonyms, the term is used in art criticism, architecture, and decorative literature.
- Adrenalinogenic — Producing adrenaline; stimulating, generating, or promoting the synthesis and secretion of epinephrine within the organism. In endocrinology and neurophysiology, the term characterizes specific physical or psychic stimuli (such as fear, acute stress, or extreme effort), pharmacological substances, or metabolic processes triggering the secretory activity of the adrenal medulla.
- Aliquot — An admitted orthographic and phonetic variant of the term 'alicotă'; a volumetric portion precisely extracted from a homogeneous mixture in chemical analytical laboratories, or an ideal, abstract, and fixed share of a common or inherited patrimony in civil law. In number theory, it describes a component part that perfectly divides a whole without leaving a remainder.
- Amphitoky — An accepted orthographic and phonetic variant for the term 'amfitochie'; it defines the biological process of amphitokous parthenogenesis through which unfertilized eggs give rise to individuals belonging to both sexes. It is a rare structural form used in some older dictionaries or treatises translated directly from French.
- Amphoheterogony — A complex form of alternation of generations (heterogony) in which parthenogenetic forms produce offspring of both sexes (both males and females) either sequentially or simultaneously. This structural reproductive mechanism combines the traits of sexual reproduction with amphitokous parthenogenesis to optimize species adaptability.
