#adenoidectomy
- Adenoidectomy — A surgical intervention consisting of the extirpation or resection of hypertrophied adenoid vegetations (commonly known as adenoids), located in the nasopharynx. This structural procedure is frequently used in children to eliminate severe respiratory obstructions, treat recurrent otitis, or correct obstructive sleep apnea.
- Adenotome — A specialized surgical instrument, equipped with a curved, sharp loop- or basket-shaped blade, used in otorhinolaryngology for sectioning and extirpating adenoid vegetations from the nasopharynx. This structural device allows the surgeon to perform an adenoidectomy quickly and precisely, minimizing injury to the surrounding healthy tissues.
- Adenotomy — A surgical intervention consisting of the extirpation or structural removal of the hypertrophied pharyngeal tonsil (popularly known as nasal adenoids or adenoid vegetations). This medical procedure, frequently performed in pediatrics under general anesthesia, is indicated when the volume of the adenoids blocks normal nasal breathing, causes sleep apnea, or leads to recurrent serous otitis through the obstruction of the Eustachian tube.
