#anaphylaxis
- Anaphylaxis — A state of acute, systemic, and violent allergic hypersensitivity of the body, structurally occurring upon the introduction of a foreign substance (antigen) to which the body was previously sensitized. This severe immunological phenomenon involves massive mast cell degranulation and can rapidly progress to circulatory shock, obstructive laryngeal edema, and cardio-respiratory arrest, requiring immediate emergency medical care.
- Autoanaphylaxis — A severe and rare form of anaphylactic-type reaction (acute hypersensitivity) triggered inside the body by its own pathologically modified substances or proteins, acting as autoantigens, without requiring the introduction of an external allergen from the environment.
- Auto-injector — A pre-filled medical device equipped with an automated spring-loaded mechanism, designed to allow patients or untrained personnel to rapidly self-administer a precise, pre-measured dose of medication via intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. It is primarily utilized in critical emergencies, such as administering epinephrine for anaphylactic shock or antidotes following exposure to nerve agents.
