#cerebrospinal fluid
- Albuminorrhagia — The presence and quantitative concentration of albumin or total proteins in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF); a diagnostic test used in neurology, whose increased value (hyperalbuminorrhagia) indicates an impairment of the blood-brain barrier.
- Arachnoid mater — An alternative medical or Latin spelling variant for arahnoidă (arachnoid mater); the middle, thin, and avascular meningeal membrane situated between the dura mater and pia mater, surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Its name derives from its fine, reticular structure resembling a spider's web, playing a crucial physiological role in defining the subarachnoid space through which cerebrospinal fluid circulates.
- Arachnoid mater — The middle meningeal membrane, thin, transparent, and completely avascular, situated between the dura mater (externally) and pia mater (internally), surrounding and protecting the brain and spinal cord. It is characterized by a fine reticular structure reminiscent of a spider web and plays a crucial physiological role in defining the subarachnoid space through which cerebrospinal fluid circulates and resorbs.
- Spontaneous pneumocephalus — Spontaneous or congenital accumulation of air or gas inside the cranial cavity (within the cerebral ventricles, subarachnoid space, or brain parenchyma), occurring without obvious external trauma or prior surgical intervention. This rare structural pathological phenomenon is usually caused by the presence of a native bony or dural fistulous defect, an anomaly within the paranasal sinuses, or the action of gas-producing microorganisms within a latent endocranial infection.
