- Ankylopoiesis — A progressive pathological process of formation, development, or induction of ankylosis within a joint; the biological mechanism through which synovial tissue and articular cartilage are gradually replaced by fibrous or bony tissue, leading to complete immobilization and stiffening of the affected joint structures.
- Ankylorhinia — A rare congenital malformation or acquired obstructive condition (following severe trauma, chemical burns, or faulty nasal surgeries), characterized by the fusion, pathological adhesion, or complete occlusion of the nasal cavity walls or nostrils, resulting in the blockage of nasal breathing.
- Ankylosis — A marked diminution or complete loss of mobility in a joint, occurring due to an intracapsular bony or fibrous fusion, caused by chronic inflammatory processes (rheumatism, arthritis), infections, severe trauma, or prolonged immobilization in bed or a plaster cast.
- Ankylosing — Causing, promoting, or accompanying ankylosis; causing progressive stiffening and permanent immobilization of the joints through fibrous or bony fusion. It is commonly used to describe severe forms of chronic autoimmune arthritis affecting the axial skeleton.
- To anise-flavor — To flavor, spice, or infuse a culinary dish, bread, wine, or spirit (such as rakia) by adding aniseed or anise essence. This is an archaic or regional culinary term, primarily found in the Moldavian dialect, describing the traditional distillation or infusion process aimed at giving spirits a distinct, sweet, licorice-like aroma.
- Anisogametangiogamy — A complex type of sexual reproduction found in certain fungi and algae, consisting of the direct fusion of two gamete-producing structures (gametangia) that are unequal in size, shape, or histological structure. Within this cytological process, the entire content of the smaller, more dynamic male gametangium flows into the more voluminous female one, achieving genetic material blending without the prior release of independent gametes.
- Nonsense — A familiar and slang term designating a state of dizziness, mental confusion, lightheadedness, or temporary disorientation. It can also define a stupid action, a meaningless discussion, or an absurd and chaotic situation created by carelessness or lack of organization.
- Water for trând — An archaic term from Romanian folk medicine and incantations designating a therapeutic infusion or holy water used empirically to cure 'trând' (an old ailment usually identified with lymphatic node inflammation, scrofula, impetigo, or a state of severe physical languor). This liquid was prepared from specific medicinal herbs and administered to the patient alongside magical formulas.
- Apozem — A liquid pharmaceutical form, represented by a sweetened and highly concentrated infusion or decoction of medicinal plants, administered for therapeutic purposes. Unlike classic herbal teas, an apozem has a higher density of active ingredients due to prolonged boiling or maceration, traditionally used as a magistral remedy in phytotherapy.
- Arthrodesis — Surgical intervention aimed at the permanent fixation of a movable joint through artificial bone fusion, designed to restore skeletal stability and eliminate severe chronic pain. This procedure permanently blocks movement in the treated segment, serving as a final therapeutic solution for advanced joint destruction caused by arthrosis, major trauma, or congenital deformities.
- Autologous — Originating from the same individual; obtained, harvested, or derived from the patient's own organism to whom it is to be administered. In surgical and hematological practice, the term describes own tissue grafts, stem cells, plasma, or blood transfusions, this medical approach completely eliminating the risk of immune rejection, graft-versus-host disease, or transmission of viral infections.
- Self-welding — The act of self-welding and its result; an autonomous physical, chemical, or metallurgical process through which two identical or compatible metallic or polymeric surfaces join tightly, achieving a continuous structural bond under the action of heat, high pressure, or internal molecular reactions without the addition of external filler material or manual welding intervention.
- Self-weld — A continuous structural joint obtained automatically or spontaneously between two parts or materials through the self-welding process; the bead or zone of molecular fusion resulting from an autonomous thermal or mechanical assembly, characterized by high mechanical strength and the absence of traces of external filler material.
- Autotransfusion — A hematological medical procedure consisting of transfusing a patient with their own blood, previously collected via scheduled autologous donation or salvaged and filtered intraoperatively during major surgical interventions. This structural technique completely eliminates the risks of immune rejection, transmission of infectious diseases, or incompatible post-transfusion reactions.
- Chaos — A state of total disorder, chaotic mixture, jumble, or generalized confusion in which things, ideas, or people are piled together without any rule or logic. Figuratively, it describes a tumultuous agitation, a tangled vision, or a rapid and uncontrolled succession of events or thoughts that overwhelm an individual's capacity of perception.
- Babel — The biblical name of the city of Babylon, famous for the Tower of Babel, a monumental building erected by humans to reach heaven, an act of pride punished by God by confounding their languages; by extension, the term denotes a place where total confusion reigns, a chaotic mix of languages, peoples, or conflicting opinions where nobody understands anyone.
- Babelic — Pertaining to the Tower of Babel or Babylon; by extension, characterized by utter confusion, a chaotic mixture of languages, deafening noise, or profound misunderstanding among people; tumultuous, chaotic, or disorderly.
- Babylon — A place, environment, or situation characterized by utter confusion, deep disorder, a chaotic mixture of people, languages, opinions, or different cultures, where effective communication becomes impossible; a noisy and tumultuous urban crowd that symbolically evokes biblical disorder.
- Babylonian — Pertaining to Babylon or Babylonia, relating to the Babylonian civilization; (metaphorically or literary) characterized by extreme confusion, deep disorder, deafening noise, or a chaotic mixture of languages and contradictory opinions; Babel-like.
- Pandemonium — A state of complete confusion, uproar, deep disorder, or a chaotic mixture of people, languages, opinions, or contradictory interests in a certain place or group; an absurd situation where communication and mutual understanding become impossible, symbolically evoking the legend of the Tower of Babel.
