- Aviator — An archaic, literary, or regional term used extremely rarely to designate a pilot, an aviator, or a person who conducts and operates an airplane or a motorized flight vehicle. This word, temporarily integrated into early aeronautical terminology through assimilation from other Romance languages, has been almost entirely replaced in current vocabulary by the stabilized neologism 'aviator' or the functional term 'pilot'.
