#phonetic shift
- Assimilation — The act of assimilating and its result; a complex process through which an organism transforms external nutrients into its own living matter. In sociology, it represents cultural fusion or the adoption of dominant cultural traits by a minority group; in phonetics, it denotes a sound's structural modification under the influence of a neighboring one by acquiring identical features.
- Assimilated — Having been absorbed, integrated, transformed, or structurally incorporated into a pre-existing system, becoming a homogenous part of it. In biology, it describes nutrients converted into living matter; in psychology, knowledge organically internalized into the cognitive structure; in linguistics, a sound phonetically modified under the influence of a neighboring one.
- To feel — An old form, phonetic alteration, or isolated regional variant of the verb 'a simți'; to perceive a physical stimulus, an emotion, or a mental state through the senses or consciousness. In old transitional texts, the spontaneous prefixation with 'a-' sometimes occurred for reasons of euphony or as a speech characteristic in certain rural dialects.
- Astaloș variant — A regional and archaic phonetic variant of the word 'astaloș', used within certain subdialectal enclaves of northern Transylvania or Maramureș; it designates the master carpenter or joiner, illustrating the vocalic closure specific to isolated rural idioms.
