- Anti-rachitic — Preventing, combating, or treating rickets; a substance, biological factor, or pharmaceutical preparation that promotes the fixation of calcium and phosphorus in the bone structure. It is traditionally applied to vitamin D (especially D3 or cholecalciferol), cod liver oil, and therapeutic treatments intended for infants and young children to ensure proper bone mineralization and prevent skeletal deformities.
- Avitaminosis — A serious pathological state caused by the total lack or profound and prolonged deficiency of one or more vitamins in the organism, stemming from an unbalanced diet, intestinal malabsorption, or metabolic disorders. This structural condition disrupts vital biochemical cellular functions, leading to the onset of specific well-defined diseases, such as scurvy, pellagra, rickets, or beriberi.
