#transport
- Subscription / Membership — An agreement or contract by which an individual or legal entity secures the right to periodically use a service, receive a publication, attend cultural or sports venues, or access a digital platform, in exchange for a fee paid in advance or on a recurring basis. It also denotes the document or pass that proves this right.
- Acropetal — Developing, moving, evolving, or propagating from the base toward the apex (ascendingly), in the direction of the upper extremity of an organ or structural organism. In botany, the term describes an inflorescence with acropetal succession (where the oldest flowers are located at the base and the youngest ones or buds gradually open toward the apex) or the transport of sap and regulatory substances through plant vascular tissues.
- Coupling — The act of hooking and its result; the technical process of coupling, securing, or structurally hanging objects or vehicles. In the context of road safety, the term defines the unforeseen event whereby a moving vehicle clips a pedestrian, cyclist, or fixed roadside element without causing a direct head-on collision.
- Coupled — Having undergone the process of hooking; an object, vehicle, or structural element secured, coupled, suspended by means of a hook, or accidentally hit from the side. In a technical sense, it describes the safe, finalized state of two mechanisms stably locked together.
- Water conveyance main — A formal variant or secondary terminology for the noun 'aducție' (adduction), denoting the complete system of structures, aqueducts, main channels, or large-scale pipelines designed for the capture and conveyance of fluids (especially potable or raw water) from a collection source directly to distribution nodes or treatment plants. In older medical or academic treatises, it was also occasionally used to describe the biological inward movement of limbs.
- Brought — Conveyed, transported, or delivered from another place toward the location of the speaker; generated, caused, or induced as a result of a prior action. As an adjective applied to human body posture, the term describes a person who is bent, hunched, or leaning forward due to old age, fatigue, or a spinal condition. As a neuter noun, it indicates the mechanical or logistical action of transporting goods or materials.
- Advection — The horizontal movement of an air mass or fluid, accompanied by the transport of its physical properties (such as temperature, moisture, salinity, or density); the physical process of large-scale bulk transport from one point to another within a fluid medium. In meteorology, advection is a key factor in weather dynamics, strictly distinguished from convection (vertical movement) and causing sharp temperature shifts.
- Advective — Relating to advection; caused, induced, or driven by the process of advection (the horizontal transport of an atmospheric or fluid property, such as mass, heat, or moisture). In synoptic meteorology, the term describes complex phenomena triggered by large-scale horizontal air mass movements, such as advective fog or advective frost, both originating from the sudden intrusion of an air front with contrasting thermal traits over a region.
- Aerial — Pertaining to the air, located, occurring, or developing in the air or atmosphere; relating to aviation or transport carried out by aircraft. In a botanical sense, it describes plant organs (stems, roots) that grow above the ground, while figuratively, it refers to a dreamy, inattentive person, detached from everyday reality.
- Air ambulance — An aircraft (helicopter or airplane) specially equipped with emergency medical equipment and qualified personnel, used for the rapid transport of critical patients or organs intended for transplantation. This airborne intensive care mobile unit enables life-saving operations in hard-to-reach areas, ensuring advanced medical care during flight.
- Flying car — A hybrid experimental or conceptual vehicle designed to operate both as an automobile on public roads and as an aircraft on airways, utilizing foldable or retractable wings and a mixed propulsion system. This advanced technological concept aims to relieve terrestrial traffic congestion by integrating daily commuting into controlled airspace.
- Aerobus — A suspended public transport system, similar to a monorail or urban cable car, consisting of a large self-propelled vehicle running on overhead tensioned cables or elevated tracks. This eco-friendly transit mode is designed to provide rapid links in modern urban areas, operating above traditional road traffic without interfering with terrestrial infrastructure.
- Airport terminal — The main building or complex of buildings located within an airport, specially designed and equipped with the necessary logistical infrastructure for passenger and aircrew services, check-in and boarding formalities, security control, baggage sorting, and air transport flow management.
- Hovercraft — A self-propelled amphibious vehicle (hovercraft) capable of moving at a low altitude above water, land, swamps, or ice, by generating a continuous layer of compressed air beneath its hull (air cushion) which cancels its direct friction with the ground surface.
- Aeromaritime — Relating simultaneously to airspace and maritime space; combining aeronautical and naval elements or taking place over seas and oceans. The term commonly describes mixed transport lines, coastal patrol and rescue missions, combined military exercises, or logistical infrastructures connecting ports and airports.
- Aviation medicine — A specialized, interdisciplinary branch of medicine that studies the physiological, psychological, and pathological effects exerted by high-altitude flight and variations in altitude or barometric pressure on the human body. This discipline establishes medical selection criteria, fitness standards for pilots, and emergency assistance during air transport.
- Aircraft — Any technical apparatus capable of sustaining itself in the atmosphere and moving through airspace due to the reactions of the air, other than its reactions against the earth's surface. This vast category structurally includes both aircraft lighter than air, such as balloons and airships, and aircraft heavier than air, such as airplanes, helicopters, and gliders.
- Airport — A complex assembly of land, buildings, and technical installations specially designed to allow the takeoff, landing, ground handling, sheltering, and maintenance of aircraft, as well as the boarding, deboarding, and servicing of passengers or cargo processing. Its structure essentialy includes elements such as runways, taxiways, aprons, the control tower, and commercial terminals.
- Airborne — Transported or launched by means of an aircraft, airplane, or helicopter; structurally adapted to be moved through the air or parachuted directly into the operational area. The term is widely applied to elite infantry troops, advanced radar equipment, geophysical sensors, or weaponry specially configured for aviation missions.
- Aerosleigh — A large self-propelled vehicle, mounted on steel runners or special skis, structurally designed to move at high speed over vast surfaces covered with snow or ice. The propulsion of this unit is provided by an internal combustion engine coupled to an aerodynamic propeller (similar to that of an airplane), being used primarily in Arctic regions or in isolated mountain rescue missions.
