Amenorrhea
Definition
The pathological or physiological absence of the menstrual cycle for a period of at least three consecutive months. This structural dysfunction of the female reproductive system can be primary, when menarche does not occur by the age of 15-16, or secondary, triggered later by hormonal, metabolic, psychological causes, or external factors such as severe stress or extreme physical exertion.
